About

John Silvestri invites you to enjoy his artwork not only by seeing, but also by listening.

He paints with the goal to show how music is interwoven with every facet of our world. With each brush stroke, he hopes to shepherd an understanding of the imprint that music can make on the soul across life’s journey. In his works, flowers with guitar leaves and musical staff swirl through surreal landscapes, souls dance away from their bodies, reincarnation cycles gyrate at the universal calling for musical expression, and beings fuse with the instruments that give them voice. Silvestri offers you the opportunity to see the music, to hear the paintings.

John Silvestri was born in Dallas, Texas in 1988. His artistic ability and creativity were revealed at the age of 8, when he had his first public showing in the St. Louis Art Museum. Later, Silvestri studied art both in the U.S. and internationally. After studying arts in university, he apprenticed in Italy under modern painter and sculptor, Salvatore Leto. Silvestri’s art has been reviewed on international art talk radio as well as in several newspaper journals, including the Herald Tribune, University of South Florida Oracle, The Oregonian and SRQ Magazine.

Silvestri also developed a talent for writing and playing music in the early days of his artistic discovery, beginning at age 12. As the beneficiary of a multi-generational family of musicians, he aggressively developed his musical identity into IDENTITY.  In 2011, Silvestri's original music scored a movie selected to be in the Cannes Film Festival. In addition to painting and creating Giclee Prints , he is a professional musician for the auditory manifestation of his art—the band Audio Orchid, based out of Sarasota, Florida.

Now, when Silvestri paints, he draws on the synergy—and at times conflict—between his life as an artist and his devotion to music. The two passions intertwine, always, to influence the creation of the other. As you observe his paintings, he invites you to contemplate the role of music in your life—the memories, emotions, and images it evokes, as well as the accompanying sound. Or perhaps even pick up a guitar and see where it takes you. Either way, please enjoy the art and whatever thoughts, feelings, or music it awakens in you.
